Personalized Planning for Your Smile
A smile makeover is a personalized plan that may combine cosmetic and restorative treatments to improve the appearance, balance, and function of your smile. The right plan depends on your goals, oral health, bite, existing dental work, and timeline.
At Bass & Watson Family Dental, we take a relationship-based approach to smile planning. We want patients to understand the options, sequence, and reasons behind each recommendation before making decisions.
What a Smile Makeover May Include
A smile makeover may include teeth whitening, veneers, Invisalign, crowns, bridges, dental implants, bonding, or other approved cosmetic and restorative options. Not every patient needs every service, and more treatment does not always mean a better plan.
Some patients want to brighten a healthy smile. Others need to address worn teeth, missing teeth, old restorations, crowding, spacing, or bite concerns before cosmetic treatment begins. The dentist will recommend a plan based on what is healthy, realistic, and appropriate.
How We Plan Cosmetic Treatment
Planning may include a dental exam, digital imaging, photographs, shade discussions, bite evaluation, and a conversation about priorities. We may discuss whether preventive, restorative, or alignment-related needs should be completed before cosmetic treatment.
This planning step is especially important for patients considering multiple changes. For example, Invisalign may be recommended before veneers, or whitening may be recommended before crowns so visible restorations can be shade matched more intentionally.
Reviewing Examples and Expectations
The smile gallery can help patients understand the types of cases shown on the website. Individual results vary, and every treatment plan is based on the patient’s unique oral health, anatomy, smile goals, and treatment choices.
During the consultation, we will discuss what may be realistic for your smile, what steps may be involved, and what maintenance may be needed after treatment.
Phased Care and Long-Term Maintenance
Some smile makeover plans can be completed in a shorter sequence, while others are better handled in phases. Phasing may help patients prioritize urgent needs, plan financially, or complete foundational care before cosmetic treatment.
After treatment, routine cleanings, home care, night guard use when recommended, and follow-up visits can help maintain your results and protect your investment in oral health.
From Wish List to Treatment Plan
A smile makeover does not begin with a menu of procedures. It begins with a conversation. Some patients know exactly what bothers them, such as staining, crowding, worn edges, missing teeth, old crowns, or a gummy-looking smile. Others simply know they feel self-conscious in photos or avoid smiling naturally. The consultation helps translate those concerns into a realistic dental plan.
At Bass & Watson Family Dental, smile makeover planning may include cosmetic and restorative options such as whitening, veneers, bonding, Invisalign, crowns, bridges, implants, or dentures. Not every patient needs multiple services, and more treatment is not automatically better. The right plan needs to match the patient’s goals, oral health, timeline, and priorities.
Health Comes Before Cosmetic Changes
Cosmetic treatment is more predictable when the teeth, gums, bite, and supporting structures are stable. Cavities, gum inflammation, cracked teeth, old failing restorations, missing teeth, bite wear, or active infection may need to be addressed before cosmetic changes begin. This does not mean a patient has to do everything at once. It means the plan is sequenced intentionally.
For example, whitening may happen before veneers or crowns so shade can be planned. Invisalign may be discussed before veneers if alignment would improve proportions or reduce the amount of tooth preparation. Crowns or implants may be prioritized when function and tooth replacement are part of the patient’s goals.
